The new Shimano Curado DC reel combines traditional reliability and durability with a next-generation DC casting brake system. The Shimano Curado DC's brake is digitally controlled with the assistance of a microprocessor. This microprocessor measures spool rotation speed 1000 times per second to adjust the casting brake. The system allows for longer, tangle-free casts.

The reel features four different casting programs:

Long Cast – long-distance casting mode for extreme distancesAll around – long and accurate casts with fewer tanglesFluorocarbon – for stiff fluorocarbon lines Skipping – for skipping cast techniques and similar
